Information For International Applicants

Please read the general informations for international students, and contact Mrs. Helga Gollob for answers on remaining questions about formal requirements to start a doctoral study at our university. Do also use the helpful admission guide.

 

In addition to these formal requirements for admission, the willingness of a professor to supervise your dissertation is essential. For that you have to personally contact a professor who you believe might be interested in supervising your dissertation. You find information on research fields and contacts by clicking on the links in the list of potential research supervisors. When a professor has agreed to supervise your dissertation, apply for enrolment in the doctoral school. You will need the signed form of the doctoral school for your application for admission to the university.

 

Doctoral studies at our university take at least 3 years. It is required to write a doctoral dissertation, which is based on empirical research work. Part of the doctoral dissertation can be accomplished by publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals. It is also required to complete some postgraduate courses. It will be possible to complete the courses of the doctoral school in English. For further information please study the Curriculum.

 

Note that admission to the doctoral school does not mean that you will be paid. You will usually have to self-finance your studies.
